Gerber Baby Food Purees

GERBER Baby Food Purees

Once the infant has mastered single grain cereals, it may be time to introduce single ingredient pureed fruits, vegetables, and meats/poultry. The order of introduction doesn’t matter, but it may take 10–15 tries before the infant accepts a new taste or texture.

Gerber fruit and vegetable purees are made with natural fruits and vegetables and pureed into developmentally appropriate textures. Meat/poultry puree textures progress along with the infant’s feeding skills and developmental stage.

  • GERBER® 1ST FOODS® are single ingredient pureed fruits and vegetables
  • GERBER® 2ND FOODS® are multiple ingredient pureed fruits, vegetables, grains, and meats with thicker textures than 1ST FOODS®. GERBER® Organic 2ND FOODS® are now available in a variety of flavors
  • GERBER® 3RD FOODS® purees contain tender bits of pasta and vegetables to introduce chunkier textures for older infants learning to mash and chew

As part of the Start Healthy, Stay Healthy™ Nutrition System, Nestlé recommends breastfeeding as the ideal nutrition for babies. The World Health Organization states that the optimal duration of exclusive breastfeeding is 6 months and recommends continued breastfeeding for as long as possible after the introduction of complementary foods.

  • Gerber fruit and vegetable purees such as carrots, green beans and sweet potatoes are made with 100% natural fruits and vegetables with no added sugar, salt, starch or artificial flavors or colors
  • Pureed meats can be introduced as an early solid food to provide a good source of protein, iron and zinc. This is especially important for infants because iron stores begin to diminish around 6 months of age
  • Some Gerber fruit purees provide an excellent source of vitamin A (from beta-carotene), vitamin C and vitamin E – powerful antioxidants that help support the infant’s immune system. Vitamin C also helps to enhance the absorption of iron
  • Gerber purees with DHA provide 18 mg of DHA per serving to help support brain and eye development
  • GERBER® Organic SmartNourish™ fruits and vegetables have 18 mg of DHA and 25 mg of choline per pack to help support visual and cognitive development, making these purees a ‘smart’ choice for infant feeding
  • Gerber organic purees offer a variety of certified organic choices and are produced to meet the strict standards of the USDA’s National Organic Program
